A Tale of two Class 37s

I had a green Class 37 on my layout which I wanted to convert to sound. However it was a slightly noisy unit which, for me, made it not worth it. I was offered a very quiet model by a customer - it was a blue version. I installed sound into the new (ex-blue) chassis and came to put the green body on it. Have a look at the first two photos to see the problem - the buffers.

After a few minutes of teeth grinding I set about swapping over the chassis bottom which involved quite a bit of dismantling. However every cloud has a sliver lining and I took the opportunity to install twin speakers in the fuel tanks. The third photo shows the space available after removal of the weight. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the speakers installed - and no I am not going to dismantle it again to do so !

I now have a very good sounding
Class 37 in green.

And a slightly noisy blue 37 to
dispose of.
